Dead of Summer – Season 1 (TV Series)
Once Upon a Time creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis have joined forces for Dead of Summer, a new “horror” TV series from ABC Family. The network announced a straight to series order last fall.

According to ABC/Freeform, the coming of age/supernatural series is set in the 80’s and takes place at “Camp Clearwater”, a harmless summer camp in the heart of America. In what was supposed to be a summer of fun turns out to be a nightmare.

Horowitz and Kitsis aren’t the only Once Upon a Time alum that will be part of Dead of Summer. Former Once stars Elizabeth Lail (who played Frozen character Anna) and Eliabeth Mitchell (who played Ingrid/The Snow Queen) will star in the show. Interestingly, Elizabeth Mitchell starred in the 2000 movie Frequency which is currently being rebooted for TV and happens to be filming its pilot in Vancouver. Would be interesting to see her make an appearance in that series as well. Read more about Frequency in our Pilot Season Roundup.

Here’s a round up of the cast so far from the show’s IMDb page:

Shut Eye (TV Series)
Shut Eye is a new original series from US streaming giant Hulu. The series is a 10 episode drama starring Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice, Fargo). Donovan plays Charlie, a former magician who is now part time psychic and part time conman who gets wrapped up in LA’s complicated underworld of organized crime. Check out our article about Shut Eye for a little more info about the series. Shut Eye is scheduled to film in Vancouver and area until July 26th.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (Feature)
The 5th movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise which stars Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Kaya Scodelario will be doing some additional filming in Vancouver after the rest of it was shot in Australia last year.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is scheduled to film in the Vancouver area until April 13th. Their signs EUCLID (formerly used by Star Trek Beyond) have been spotted near North Shore Studios for the last few weeks, so it seems like they’ll spend most (if not all) their time in studio. Check out our article about Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales for a little more info about the film.

Miranda’s Rights (TV Pilot)
Miranda’s Rights is NBC’s legal drama that follows a group of young lawyers who work AND live together at their start up law firm called “Young Law Group”. Notable cast includes Rebecca Breeds (Pretty Little Liars, The Originals), Jamie Chung (Once Upon a Time, Big Hero 6), John Gabriel (Blind Turn, The Divergent Series: Allegiant – Part 1), Monique Coleman (High School Musical) and Noel Fisher (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles).
.
Miranda’s Rights is scheduled to film in Vancouver and area until April 10th. Look for their signs “GEPMR” to spot them filming. They’ve got a temporary studio setup in the same location that was used by the Powerless pilot in the Tilbury area of Delta.

Project Mc2 (Web Series)
Project Mc2 is a Netflix original series about a teenage girl named McKeyla McAlister, played by Mika Abdalla. Mckeyla and 3 of her friends become secret agents for an all-female spy agency. Under the guidance of The Quail the spies use their skills in science, math and tech to complete their missions. The Qual is played by Danica McKellar (The Wonder Years). Netflix released the show’s first 3 episodes in August of 2015, it would appear that the next batch will be 7-10 episodes. Project Mc2 will be filming in the area until June 16th and will spend a lot of time at their custom built set inside Ridge Studios in Maple Ridge. Season 2 will be available on Netflix on Friday, August 12th and Season 3 will be released in the fall.

Date with Love (formerly Promposal) (TV Movie)
Although we haven’t seen an official synopsis for Promposal yet, we know it stars Shenae Grimes-Beech (90210) and Bailee Madison (Just Go With It). Shenae filmed a couple of other TV movies in the area over the last few months: White Hot and Mechanics of Love. Bailee has also spent time in Vancouver over the last couple years for her role as Young Snow White on Once Upon a Time.
