After a successful 3rd season, Hallmark’s When Calls the Heart Season 4 started filming in British Columbia last week.

The series will be looking to build on it’s incredible momentum, coming off of a series-high ratings performance in it’s season 3 finale which aired on April 10, 2016. The following day, When Calls the Heart Season 4 was officially announced. It’s been a hit for Hallmark on social media as well boasting the highest number of tweets of any Hallmark Channel series, movie, or special premiere according to the network.

When Calls the Heart is based on the book of the same name by Canadian author Janette Oke. Set in the early 1900s, it follows an independent young woman named Elizabeth Thatcher (played by Erin Krakow) who gets her first teaching job in a frontier town called Coal Valley (later renamed to Hope Valley). Although life is more simple in the small mining community, she winds up finding love and discovering herself along the way. The purpose-built private back lot at the Jamestown Movie Set in Langley has played the charming town of Hope Valley since the beginning of the series. Erin shared a behind the scenes picture on Twitter from the first day of When Calls the Heart Season 4:

In addition to Erin Krakow, the series stars Daniel Lissing as a police officer named Jack Thornton and Lori Loughlin as Abigail Stanton. Lori shared a picture on Twitter of her back on set of When Calls the Heart Season 4 at Jamestown Movie Set in Langley yesterday:

Since wrapping the 3rd season of When Calls the Heart, Lori, Erin and Daniel have been busy with other productions filming around the Vancouver area. Daniel starred alongside 90210 star Jessica Lowndes in Hallmark’s December Bride. Erin also starred in a Hallmark movie called Finding Father Christmas with another former 90210 star, Niall Matter. Despite recently reprising her role as Becky on Fuller House, Lori Loughlin managed to fit in 2 TV movies during her downtime: The Christmas Makeover and the next installment in the Garage Sale Mystery series.

Several of the show’s BC-based actresses have been seeing success over the last several months as well. Pascale Hutton (who plays Rosie) stars alongside Debbie Gibson in Hallmark’s Summer of Dreams. Eva Bourne (who plays Clara) reprised her role as Hannah in Garage Sale Mystery: The Art of Murder. Ali Skovbye appeared in A Murderer Upstairs and is currently filming Live Like Line, a big budget feature with Helen Hunt. We’ll also be seeing Gracyn Shinyei (who plays Emily) on the big screen as she filmed Phil with Greg Kinnear in Vancouver during the winter. Johannah Newmarch (who plays Molly) will appear in 2 features: Puppet Killer and This Is Your Death.
