Earlier this year, social media giant Facebook announced its plans to expand into the original TV marketplace with ‘Facebook Watch’. Its first scripted drama series, Sacred Lies, will be filming in Vancouver and area from March 15th to May 25th.

According to Deadline.com, Sacred Lies is a half-hour-format drama based on The Handless Maiden, a classic tale from the Brothers Grimm as well as The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly written by Stephanie Oakes. The dark story centres around a strong and brave teenage girl with a missing hand. She’s determined not to let her past define her and has to find the strength to fight through everything life throws her way. After escaping from a cult, she ends up in a juvenile detention centre when authorities discovered she may know who killed the group’s former leader.

The series will be overseen by former True Blood executive producer Raelle Ticker. She’ll be joined by Emmy Award winner Scott Winant who is set to direct the first two episodes. There haven’t been any casting announcements so far, but this article will be updated as more information becomes available.

Update 3/2/2018: Deadline.com revealed that Elena Kampouris (Before I Fall), Kevin Carroll (The Leftovers), Kiana Madeira (Dark Matter), and Ryan Robbins (Sanctuary) have joined Sacred Lies season 1.
